Samsung Engineering receives Kazakhstan Balkhash power plant Jun 26, 2012

[Seoul, Korea] June 26th, 2012 – Samsung Engineering, the largest engineering
company in Korea, announced that the company was awarded a contract in
Kazakhstan from Balkhash Thermal Power Plant(BTPP), worth 2.1 billion USD.
Samsung Engineering¡¯s Executive Vice President Kim Dong-Woon attended the
signing ceremony in Astana, Kazakhstan.

Samsung Engineering is responsible for the engineering, procurement,
construction and commissioning for the project on a lump-sum turnkey basis.
The Kazakhstan BTPP project will take 60 months to complete and is expected
to reach completion by 2018.

The 1320MW power generator plant will be built in Balkhash Province, the southern
part of Kazakhstan which will help resolve the high demand for electricity in Kazakhstan.
